The AIoT for ICT4D Research Cluster is powered by a multidisciplinary community of NUST researchers, postgraduate students, research associates, innovation champions and strategic partners. Together, they advance applied research in Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, cybersecurity, smart systems and ICT4D, with a shared commitment to practical solutions for Namibia, Africa and the wider global development context. The submission identifies the cluster as a multi-stakeholder platform involving academic researchers, postgraduate students, innovation champions, industry partners, government agencies, communities and development partners.

The cluster brings together NUST academic researchers, postgraduate students, research associates, innovation champions, industry partners, government agencies, community representatives and international collaborators working across Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, cybersecurity, smart systems and ICT4D.
The cluster is led by Prof Attlee M. Gamundani, with Dr Simon Muchinenyika serving as Co-Vice Cluster Lead for IoT focus areas and Ms Ndinelago Nashandi serving as Co-Vice Cluster Lead for AI focus areas and Chair for IndabaX Namibia.
Yes. Postgraduate development is one of the cluster’s core priorities. Masters, doctoral and honours students contribute through research projects, publications, prototypes, project work, student exchanges and platforms such as IndabaX Namibia.
External collaborators can engage through joint research, postgraduate supervision support, technical expertise, grant applications, policy dialogue, innovation projects, seminars, workshops and applied research partnerships.
The cluster works with industry partners, government agencies, professional bodies, development organisations, community networks, universities, international research institutions and funding partners. These partnerships help translate research into practical solutions, prototypes, policy insight and societal impact.
